Honey Face Mask

Honey Face Mask

Honey is highly beneficial for many purposes but did you know it’s great for your skin? Most cleansers

and soaps are alkaline and break down the skin’s natural acid mantle. The acid mantle is particularly

important for maintaining healthy skin, especially on our face because it acts as the protective layer that

holds moisture in, and also keeps out things like bacteria and pollutants. If we solely wash our face with

cleansers, we may be leaving this delicate skin open to damage.

Using honey as a face mask is a wonderful solution because it helps to restore and build the acid mantle

and it’s naturally antimicrobial. You’ll need approximately 2 – 3 teaspoons of raw honey. We love to get

local honey from the farmers market whenever possible, but if you are going to purchase it elsewhere

many experts recommend Manuka Honey for its skin supporting properties. You can use the honey plain

or see the optional face mask recipes below.

To prepare tie back your hair, gently and thoroughly remove any make up, and wash your hands. Use a

clean spoon and bowl for your honey, or honey mixture. Gently rub the honey with your fingertips onto

your forehead cheeks and chin area, being careful to avoid eyes and hair. Leave on for 10- 15 minutes

and gently rinse multiple times with lukewarm or cool water. You can do this 1-2 per week as needed

for a clear, glowing complexion without ultra-expensive products!

Some optional additions for your honey face mask are:

2 teaspoons honey + 1 teaspoon aloe vera for sensitive skin or inflammation

2 teaspoons honey + 1 drop tea tree oil for acne

1 teaspoon honey + 1 teaspoon witch hazel + 1 drop of lavender for wrinkles
